Engaging People Project
Some of the team have been out and about in the Craven district talking to people about community care services including the future of Castleberg Hospital.
Castleberg Hospital in Settle has 10 beds and provides intermediate, palliative and end of life care. In April 2017 the hospital was temporarily closed due to ongoing problems with the heating, power supply and drainage. Since then people have been mainly cared for at home or in an intermediate care ward at Airedale Hospital.
People in the Craven district are now being asked their views about how they think these services should be run in the future. There are two options that are being considered:
Option 1 is to continue to provide inpatient care in the community and repair/restore Castleberg Hospital
Option 2 is to provide care in people’s homes or in another community setting and close Castleberg Hospital.
